“Void Season” is a digital fashion design project. Part dreamlike theatre, part lateral cargo cult hustle, a succession of bold garment designs acts as an ersatz runway show. In a minimal set of solid backdrops, radiant colors and oblique choreography second the exquisite design of costumes that have been entirely artificially generated. A wealth of custom procedural surface detail emphasizes the uncanny rift between the realistic presence of the guises and the abstract vacancy of the digitized human movements. ZEITGUISED X OY: For the release of their track “A New Planet is Born”, ZEITGUISED supported their fabulous friends of OY with an extended edit to be used for their album promo and live touring visuals. About the Work RENDER is an experimental installation created using 20 sheets of organic display electroluminescence. Its focus’s on the perception of “being able to see things that cannot actually be seen” using footage from the the natural world such as rain, wind and lightning, as well as a three-dimensional audio reconstruction using natural sound fragments. The artwork aims to trigger a new sense of depth allowing viewers to reimagine what is depicted between each display using their minds to fill in the blanks. By displaying fragmented three-dimensional visuals on multiple displays, a new perspective can be explored not only from the front but all angles in 3D space. This experience will intensely stimulate the viewer’s imagination, leaving a deeper impression on one’s mind. Staff Creative Director:Takaaki Morita Art Director / Technical Director / Programmer:Shunsaku Ishinabe Visual Designer:Daisuke Moriwaki, Tsutomu Miyajima, Itsuki Maeshiro, Tatsuki Kondo, Hiroshi Takagishi Producer:Yasuaki Matsui Sound Designer:Tomohiro Nagasaki Engineer:Yuta Nakano Equipment:CIMA (http://www.cima-net.co.jp)

In the vanishing lowland rainforests of Borneo, new research is underway to uncover and understand the unique cultural behaviors in wild orangutans, before it’s too late. There, photographer Tim Laman, researcher Cheryll Knott and young explorer Robert Suro have documented orangutans making pillows, fashioning umbrellas and displaying regional greetings. The project, 20 years in the making, offers a fascinating glimpse into the habits of wild orangutans, as well as a window into human evolution. With their habitat disappearing at an alarming rate, this research may prove to be key in protecting this critically endangered species. The first and last glimpse into the universe of iconic Spanish sculptor, Xavier Corberó. A kaleidoscopic life and career that traversed a turbulent moment of Spanish history. Just before passing away in April 2017, Catalan sculptor Xavier Corberó opened up his home for the first and last film to be made about him. A glimpse into the universe of a genius which included friendships with Dalí, Picasso and Antonio Gades, which traversed a turbulent moment of Spanish history and in which he created his final oeuvre, his home in Esplugues, a work of art in itself.

On a cold, misty morning in late October 2017, after 11 previous attempts, Brad Gobright and Jim Reynolds broke the standing speed record on The Nose (formerly held by Alex Honnold and Hans Florine) with an unbelievable new time of 2 hours, 19 minutes, and 44 seconds. Watching this as it happened was one of the more incredible spectacles I’ve ever witnessed; an amazing display of superhuman mastery unlike anything I’ve seen before… Music: Harold Budd – Boy About 10 ODESZA – It’s Only (feat. Zyra) Nat Geo :: Climbers Crush ‘Unbeatable’ Speed Record on El Cap https://on.natgeo.com/2H0hJS7 “We got back down to the Loop Road about two that afternoon, exhausted by the nervous depression that always follows a wall. As we stumbled around the bend, El Capitan came into view, backlit and burning at the edges. For all the raw labor and anxieties of the climb, it was natural that, all the way up, I should wonder if I was committing more to a venture than it was actually worth, if I was putting too much into too little. But if there is anything of a magnitude that can blow person off his feet, it’s that first ground-level view of the wall he’s just climbed. Too little? The second we saw it, Ron and I stood in the middle of the road and gaped at it with our mouths open. It looked about 10 miles high. And how long ago it seemed we’d been up there, and how strange, as though we’d seen it in a movie, or in a dream, and had suddenly woken up, half remembering what it was we dreamed.” – John Long :: Rock Jocks, Wall Rats, and Hang Dogs

‘Swindon - A Portrait of Youth’ is a snapshot of...
‘Swindon - A Portrait of Youth’ is a snapshot of opinions about growing up in the UK. Teenagers rarely have a voice and a platform to speak about their aspirations and fears. With far-reaching political decisions being made around them, I wanted to explore what this group thought about growing up in Britain. We chose Swindon because it was the closest major town to where I grew up and always seems to be a litmus test for which way the country will vote on major political decisions. It’s not a particularly wealthy area nor a town that suffers from intense poverty. It doesn’t have a single industry which the town’s economy is reliant on, but instead has benefited from cheap land, ideally located - making it a good place for company headquarters and manufacturing. For these reasons, it seemed an appropriate place to get a snapshot of youth in Britain. Interviews were conducted with 15-18-year-olds on the phone throughout 2017 and the piece completed in 2018. It was shot on 35mm Kodak and Master Primes with only available light. A about a year ago I decided to make full CG short myself, here is the result. Find more BTS here: http://www.sekanimotiondesign.com/#/hidden/ Hidden is a short film about self appreciation, it’s about uncovering some of the thoughts and feelings that make us who we are and seeing that those feelings are beautiful. Each of the figures are representative of an emotion; chains represents fear, crystals is love and affection, gold is greed/ambition and flowers is joy/happiness. We start off with them being all covered in cloth to be synonymous with the idea of not sharing certain feelings or aspects of ourselves, a reflection of how many of us interact in today’s society. As we progress through the film, we peel back the layers (removing the cloth), revealing what lies underneath is beautiful. We then show that all these figures create one person, reiterating all these different aspects make us who we are. « Pujottelua » (Official Music Video) from the album SIIPI EMPII released April 6th 2018 on Leaving Records Inspired by an excerpt of a text by Jan Anderzen: « Once I zoomed infinitely into a single pixel and felt a path open, leading to the source of an unnamed nutriment. » Full Text bellow BANDCAMP: https://kemiallisetystavat.bandcamp.com/album/siipi-empii-2 VINYL: https://ikuisuus.bandcamp.com/album/siipi-empii leavingrecords.com/ On a lovely flower I land to catch my breath. I rest my wings and enjoy a few drops of nutritional gruel. I’m observing the nature fooling around with cryptic coloration, the effects of color and light. A bird’s coloring is made up of singular plumes and feathers… like a mosaic. I’m contemplating the masquerade of a hunter dressed up in camouflage and screaming bright orange. Once I saw a seagull and thought it was an angel. Once I zoomed infinitely into a single pixel and felt a path open, leading to the source of an unnamed nutriment. The sun has inspired tons of art, like the tanning bed for example. It is all nature! Bless the whole world! I flew over a wall separating the city and the woods. On it some naked witches were rehearsing their balance beam routines. I flew over a monastery and saw people gathering to form amplifiers for prayer. I flew over a lawn marking the spot where there’s no need to grow food. On the silk road I saw a truck carrying the cotton fabrics printed for Jan Anderzén. I’m on a true meadow. I’m aware that love gives you wings and that any flap of my wings may cause a tornado in some faraway land. Shattered bridges flying through the air, flocks of cars swiped into the ocean. My wings are closed, rubbing against each other in a circular motion – producing some small blithe rattle pitched too high for the human ear to catch. Jan Anderzen

Noch Am Leben/ Still Alive is the story of a woman’s recollection of her mad Holocaust survivor great aunt. Through the ghetto to cradling her dying sister, Eva Nagler left her mind on the beaches of the Baltic Sea during one of the largest death marches of WWII. Being only one of only a handful of survivors out of tens of thousands, we see vignettes of her perspective- distorted, romantic and affected by the muffled memories. Narrated by her great-niece, the story captures a snapshot of the cold reality of war and its terrible lingering aftermath. Amber Mozo is a 22-year-old photographer born and raised on the North Shore of Oahu. As the daughter of legendary surf photographer Jon Mozo, a former fixture in the lineups along the famed North Shore, Amber was raised with a love for both the ocean and photography. Jon Mozo passed away while shooting photos in the water at Pipeline — he was 33 years old. Amber was only 9. Soon after her father’s passing, Amber picked up a camera and her photographic journey began. While photography has taken Amber all around the world, shooting some of the most beautiful known surf breaks, until this winter, she hadn’t yet swam out into the lineup that stole her father’s life — Pipeline. This winter, however, under the tutelage of fellow North Shore surf photographer, Zak Noyle, Amber swam into the Pipeline lineup for the very first time during the 2018 Volcom Pipe Pro.

Sometimes casting gets a little too personal. Unable to reconcile with an ex-girlfriend, musician Pablo Padovani holds a casting call to find the next best thing. Five actresses were invited to audition completely unaware of his intentions. What emerged was a satirical look at the baggage we try to work through in our art and how that can be an uncomfortable and often too personal experience for everyone else. My first serious time-lapse project. Shots were taken in a small Slovak village where I grow up. I like nature in all seasons, but especially in winter, when everything is under white blanket. And Winter in 2017 was extraordinary cold, therefore I decided to capture this beauty, when it was possible every day and night in January and February. Some shots were taken in -20 °C and my fingers and toes almost froze up, particularly in some long hyperlapse scenes, when was no time for break 3 or 4 hours. It was extremely hard work and exhausting for me. I didn’t have such experience before, but it was quite challenge and motivation. I wanted capture that magic moment with night sky hyperlapse in middle of the night when people sleep, which was my primarely goal to achieve. I know that movement of the stars and stabilization in some shots is far from perfect, but at least, I’ve tried it and I’m happy to share my frosty piece with you. Everything was done manually without motorized parts, sliders or heads.
