An analogy between the modern human being, living in mass...

An analogy between the modern human being, living in mass cities, and the phenomenon of the circle of death - observed in nature with ants who are separated from the main foraging party and lose the pheromone track. They begin to follow one another, forming a continuously rotating circle, commonly known as a “death spiral” because the ants might eventually die of exhaustion. Shot in Mexico City, this vibrant and impressive city is a protagonist, symbolizing a life in endless high speed movement and the humans who are dedicating their lives to endless movement, self-exhaustion in a modern capitalistic based world. High Road is a story of resilience, persistence and strength....

High Road is a story of resilience, persistence and strength. Meg Fisher has been on the start line of countless paracycling races – she’s won World Championships and Olympic medals. Jack Berry, just 14 years old, has never raced his bicycle, having only recently recovered from a battle with cancer. Together, they prepare to take on a local gravel challenge thanks to Meg’s advocacy for the inclusion of a para cycling category. Though they have each lost a leg in their own challenging stories, Meg and Jack show us there is always a reason to keep pushing – to keep riding. Inside the halls of a dystopian textile factory two young workers shortly escape their harsh reality into the fantasies of a fairytale. Director’s Note: With STAINED SKIN we create a fictional space that attempts to approach the subject of fast fashion in a metaphorical way. The world depicted is a self-contained microcosm that blurs the lines between fictional real-life and the fairy tale narrative. We focus on the symbiotic relationship of Alba and Samy, which for us embodies the resilience of women to their environment and their alliance with each other. A SENSE OF SCALE is a reminiscense to the famous “Sense of Scale” documentary by Berton Pierce form 2011. As the documentary, my experimental short film is all about details and the beauty of practical effects. I want to emphasize the meaning of handmade visuals and the effort it takes to stage sceneries on a small scale. I captured very tiny areas of paint flowing on a piece of paper while zooming in the closest possible with a custom lens setup. All shots are taken with my RED DSMC2 in 8K and several macro lenses. It took me around 1 year to finish this piece. Color graded and optimized for HDR devices. Thanks for watching! Since the 1800s bicycles have been a powerful liberating tool, starting with the first faltering pedal strokes of a child daring to venture a little further from home. Yet, somewhere in our cultural trajectory, many of us have forgotten the power of this simple machine to build community. This film celebrates the “Run what you brung” adage, and reminds us that, however we choose to engage with the ever changing world of cycling, there is more that brings us together than sets us apart.

Over 100,000 tonnes of plastic pollution is generated from chewing gum every year and yet, most people still don’t know that the gum they’re chewing on contains plastic. That’s right, conventional gum is made from petroleum-derived plastics which is what gives it that chewy texture and lets it last long. It’s non-biodegradable, toxic for animals and the environment, and 80-90% of it is not disposed of properly, floating in oceans or stuck to something, somewhere, waiting to be removed. A piece of gum seems inconsequential, but not if you consider the fact that every piece of plastic-based gum that’s ever been chewed STILL exists on the planet. Enter Milliways. With its natural ingredients and super-chewy, long-lasting chicle base, they’re biodegradable, good for you and the environment, and here to change things one piece of gum at a time. Directed and Art Directed by Danae Gosset Produced by Pencil Studio 3D Lead Design & Animation: Vasco Gross 3D Character Animation: David Bonilla 2D Animation: Britton Korbel, Isabel Stub, Amy Cho, Ewan Creed, Gabby Sibilska, Emma Zwickert Titles Design by Julie Pavia Thanks to Patricia Gloum For this video we used some prompt-based Artificial Intelligence technology to generate the backgrounds. We then produced and layered a lot of 3D animations, footage, and illustration on top of it to make the video feel special and tailored to the song. We then proceeded to illustrate individually all of the frames with a variety of mediums such as watercolor, gouache, acrylic, color pencils, and pastel. As a last coat, we re-generated the entire hand illustrated video through a style transfer AI program. We set it to more or less opacity in some areas of the video, to act like a digital glaze on top of it, without losing the hard labor of the handmade quality. The story we aimed to communicate is about escaping, embracing, and surrendering to the unexpected. Pushing the metaphysical and mystical sense of the human experience, feeling that we belong from the sole exploration of our minds and into the infinity of space. An abstract and psychedelic visual exploration of self-introspection and imagination.

We all get lost in patterns, for some of us they can be totally...

We all get lost in patterns, for some of us they can be totally consuming. I wanted to make a film about the feeling of being totally consumed by one thought. A thought that endlessly repeats, that spirals out of control until there’s nothing of you left. The light effect technique reflects this repetition, it is one singular beam duplicated and then stacked back in time. The light itself is real, no CGI was used in its creation. All the effects are captured in camera. The film was shot on 16mm on the Kimmeridge Ledges of the Jurassic coast in England. A huge thank you to all that made it possible. press: Director’s Library - https://directorslibrary.com/interview/pattern/ Shots - https://www.shots.net/news/view/tom-wakelings-patterns-of-thought cast: Joshua Harriette crew: Director - Tom Wakeling Director of Photography - Nick Morris 1st Assistant Director - Luke Wilkinson 1st Assistant Camera - Phil Heron Camera Trainee - Daniel Llobera Runner - Philip Thomas Art Director - Devraj Joshi Music - Evan Gildersleeve Sound Design + Mix - Jack Hallett (Factory Studios) Audio Producer - Ethan Day (Factory Studios) Colourist - Jason Wallis (ETC) Colour Producer - Oscar Wendt (ETC) Scan Operator - Dan Redrup (Digital Orchard) special thanks: Panavision, Digital Orchard, 3D Champions, Factory Studios, ETC, Sorcha Bacon, Esteban Frost, Joan Solsona, Eimear Fitzsimons

When you see a beautiful picture of a person standing on top of a big mountain, it’s easy to assume their life, one of adventure, must be bliss. It’s simple, right? No screens, no deadlines, just the awe of nature and moving your body in places most of us only dream of. You’re at the top of the world–you should feel it, right? But the reality is: When you live with depression, it doesn’t care where you are, how high you’ve climbed, or how many peaks you’ve bagged.  Chains of Habit brings to light Ted Hesser’s struggle with depression, in hopes of destigmatizing the conversation around mental health and encouraging everyone to get outside and get well.
