Animals is an absurdist contemporary short film about the transformation of nine people stuck in a moving metro. What seems to be a normal day quickly takes a strange turn, when the metro doors refuse to open. The passengers’ failed attempts to get out, descend into frustrated chaos. Losing all sense of rationality, they go wild in order to ensure their own survival. Ice & Palms [Eis & Palmen] - Bikepacking across the alps...

Ice & Palms [Eis & Palmen] - Bikepacking across the alps and skiing iconic mountains along the way - no motor allowed! The documentary follows skiers Jochen Mesle and Max Kroneck on their most ambitious ski tour yet. A 100% self powered adventure from southern Germany all the way to the mediterranean sea. The two friends have traveled the world for many mountainous adventures, but while skiing in distant locations this idea grew in their minds: a ski expedition that starts right on their own doorsteps. Six weeks, 1.800 km, 35.000 vertical meters and a dream come true. After pedaling and skiing through Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy and France, they reached the beach in Nice in early June 2018. The movie premiered at St. Anton Filmfest in August 2018. Deep in the Norwegian forest, there is an old man, living an orderly and quiet life. Closed off from the rest of the world, he spends his days together with his lifelong friend, a troll. Together they share an everyday routine, drinking tea and taking care of each other. One day the troll begins to hint that the time has come for him to leave the comfort of their home. Not wanting to face the consequences of reality, the man sticks to his routines, maintaining their daily life. One morning, the troll is gone. Trying to restore balance to his life, the old man leaves his home in search of the troll, only to find himself getting lost in his own mind, entangled in his fears. In his darkest moment, he realizes that in order to find peace, he needs to accept the fate of his friend. As a 97 year old philosopher faces the end of his life, he discovers that much of his thinking about meaning and mortality might be wrong. Dr. Herbert Fingarette is a philosopher who’s tackled many topics: Confucius, psychoanalysis, alcoholism, self deception, responsibility, death. In each case, he thought he’d ‘solved the problem’. Now, he’s grappling with a question that can’t be answered: what is the meaning of life in the shadow of impending death?

For the past 10 years, street photographer Patrick Barr aka Tiger Hood has become a local legend known for bringing golf to the streets of NYC. It’s a game that requires only three items: a golf club, a newspaper-stuffed milk carton, and a crate. What was initially just a way for Barr to pass time has gained traction from major news outlets and celebrities on a global scale. However, street golf seems to overshadow his true passion… photography. Barr’s archive consists of thousands of mind blowing film photographs of NYC from the 1990’s to 2000’s. His goal was to preserve a time and place that he predicted would dissolve in the coming years. With his archive as evidence, he predicted correctly. “Neighborhood Golf Association” is a short documentary by long time friend, Nicolas Heller aka New York Nico. The 12-minute film explores a day in the life of Barr supplemented by archive footage collected over their three-year friendship. Directed and Produced by Nicolas Heller Cinematography by Joe Bressler Edited by Lucas Lobe Music Supervision by Falside Sound Mix by Bobb Barito Color by Joe Bressler Titles by Greg Matesich RSVP for our screening on March 2nd here: www.withfriends.co/heller_films

Natalie Labarre, Hornet’s own 2D staff animator, directed this powerfully moving and relevant film in collaboration with the ‘me too’ movement and the Deutsch agency. This film was one of four PSAs released by the #MeToo movement, created by Tarana Burke in 2006 to support survivors and end sexual violence. Through the message “We hear you. We see you. We believe you.,” the PSAs aim to rally survivors and supporters together in the fight to end sexual violence through testimonies from Terry Crews, Emily Waters, Daniela Contreras and an anonymous survivor. Narrated by the actual survivors, the piece that Hornet created was Daniela Contreras’ painful and courageous story, brought to life through animation that illustrates the emotional journey from pain to healing to ultimately finding a purpose.  The PSAs debuted privately at the “The Inn House" in partnership with HBO at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival. Myanmar. A country that has been sleeping for a long time wakes up. With cameras in hand we try to capture the unique culture and stunning nature of this beautiful country before it changes irreversibly. On one hand exploring Myanmar feels like stumbling into a living edition of the National Geographic: elephants leading processions of novice monks through dusty towns, a fruit seller carrying a basket of mangoes on her head: a fulfilment of the oriental fantasies of the West. On the other- a country embracing its newly won identity rushing headlong into the future to catch up with the rest of the world: traditional Burmese sarongs meet singlets and baseball caps. Cheroot cigars become cigarettes. ‘This is Burma’, wrote Rudyard Kipling. ‘It will be quite unlike any land you know about.’ Amazingly, over a century later, Myanmar retains the power to surprise and delight. Also for entirely new different reasons. We filmed with two Fujifilm XT-2 cameras equipped with the following Fujinon lenses: 35mm f/2.0, 23mm f/2.0, 80mm f/2.8 18-55mm - f/2.8-4.0 supported by Samyang 12mm f/2.0 and Zhiyun Crane v2. This film series explores scientific findings from ZACH BUSH MD and soil health expert Dr. Allen Williams of Soil Health Consultants, LLC that identify the root cause of the current chronic disease epidemic and its connection to chemically dependent agricultural practices. This film features the trials, learnings and victories of the four generation Breitkreutz family from Stoney Creek Farm transitioning from conventional farming to regenerative agriculture in Redwood Falls, Minnesota. Using conventional methods they saw their soils degrade and their input costs rise every year. Transitioning to regenerative practices has helped their row cropping operation and significantly reduced their input cost for their cattle. This film tells the story of how they did it. Japan is by the definition the blend of ancient traditions with advanced technologies but while this might sound as an insuperable contrast, the fast-paced life of Tokyo with this shiny neon sci-fi style lights combined with the enchanted and mysterious landscapes of Wakayama where temples and nature live together in harmony make this a country that everybody look with admiration. Directed by C’mon Tigre & Sic Est CG and VFX by Sic Est...

Directed by C’mon Tigre & Sic Est CG and VFX by Sic Est Produced by BDC / Bonanni Del Rio Catalog Taking inspiration from a science fiction novel from 1969 by Michael Moorcock, the story is about a modern version of the first human being, who appears on earth as an adult child, being enthusiastic for discovering the great inebriation that freedom can give, the liberation of the body using the metaphor of dance. Something that makes you lose the brakes, makes you sweat and feel good. Then it happens that when you come into contact with other human beings who are learning like you to manage their freedom, you stumble on the concept of limit. “We imagined representing the limits that life impose you as a clash between human bodies that bump into themselves, making happen weird reactions. It really amused us. Plus we imagined a grand finale, in which we chose to dress our human beings with a shining metal, a sort of a suit of armor, like an evolution of the species and an even stronger movement in search of freedom. But isn’t that already happened?” C’mon Tigre Still images here: https://www.sic-est.com/cmon-tigre https://www.cmontigre.com https://sic-est.com http://www.bonannidelriocatalog.com

“Making this film was a very personal endeavor for me. My grandparents come from a long line of Choctaw ancestry, that walked the sorrowful Trail of Tears as they relocated to Oklahoma. The film was inspired by a story my grandmother used to tell me growing up. I wanted to share this story about my ancestors that gave them the beauty and mystery that I love to find in cinema. The film digs into a realm of mysticism and its unique connection with nature and the cosmos. Its strong perspective creates an otherworldly quality that shifts the ordinary. It presents a story that honors Native American tradition/wisdom with optimism and mystery. This is a film for indigenous people, but also for others to see and learn a new side of American Indian history that is not riddled with pain, violence or tragedy. This is a story about overcoming fear with courage. A story about exiting the youth to find power within the Beyond to start the next chapter of life.” - Writer/Director, Evan Spencer Brace _______________________________________ ELDER - Charles Robinson BOY - Dante Bull Shields Writer, Director, Producer, Editor - Evan Spencer Brace Director of Photography, Title Designer - Allen Laseter (https://vimeo.com/allenlaseter) Visual Effects - Morgan Beringer (https://vimeo.com/morganism) Score and Sound Design - Nate Fleming Casting Director - Tara Yazzi Associate Producer - Brennan Eagleton Assistant Director - Amber Wilkinson 1st AC/Gaffer - Jake Macpherson 2nd AC - Jeremy Bolden Location Manager - Mary Slinger Colorist - Jimmy Cadenas Crane Operator - Tim Smith DIT - Jayson Wall Additional Sound Design - Morgan Bringer Grips - Christin Sites, Eduardo Carrillo, Sergio Ramos and Jourdan Lees Assistant Art Director - Dejane Anderson Storyboard Artist - David Anderson Make up - Jessi Baker, Elizibeth Goans Props - Paul W. The South Pole is one of the coldest, driest and harshest places on earth. The Aurora Australis can be seen together with the core of the milkyway only here in Antarctica. Temperatures below -70°C/-95°F during the polar night are not uncommon. Together with strong winds and exceptional aridity this is one of the hardest places to shoot timelapse in. Like a moth to light, we all helplessly cling to technology for  life support—without knowing the outcome. Moths find themselves in a similar state of overstimulation that we do. A state of overstimulation that eventually leads to a fatigued-techno-daze. Leading us to disconnect, derealize, and depersonalize from the world around us.

»Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with the surrounding environment. But you humans do not. You move to an area and you multiply and multiply until every natural resource is consumed. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet.« (From ‘The Matrix’) 'Mindless Crowd’ is a collage of drone footage combined with a voiceover from the 1960s. The short film is examining the different patterns and formations which human civilization has shaped on the surface of planet earth. It therefore is using only one single perspective – the top view. A film by Jacco Kliesch (2019) Based on a speech by Alan Watts (*1915 †1973) Edited entirely from stock footage. Music Track 1: Max Brodie - Ambient Explorer Music Track 2: Vaisnava - Creating Space Meditation

Directed by Saad Moosajee and Art Camp Co-Directed by Danae Gosset Designed by Saad Moosajee and Danae Gosset 3D Animation by Saad Moosajee Cel Animation by Danae Gosset Technical Direction by James Bartolozzi Junior Designer Eugene Lee Commissioned by Spotify. This music video was initially created on the computer using several pieces of 3D animation software. After the digital version was finalized, all 1,480 frames of the video were then individually printed using ink jet printers. Once an image was printed, it was then painted, drawn, and illustrated on top of using traditional animation techniques. Lastly, the newly illustrated frames were scanned back into the computer and sequenced into the final film.
