Kath Holden is an artist of the everyday. Inspired by the world around her, Kath’s creations are whimsical yet keenly observed, and a far cry from the genteel museum pieces that her contemporaries are producing. A proud Yorkshire woman, Kath reflects on her life and art as she carves a place for herself in the precious world of miniatures.

One woman’s simple, three-step guide to surviving a night on your own. This dark and wickedly fun short film stars Maika Monroe (It Follows, The Guest) as a woman whose deepest fears seem to manifest physically when her husband, played by Joe Keery (Stranger Things), leaves for the night shift. Shot on 35mm Motion Picture Film, for ‘Lost My Faith’ is about family and the struggle for generations. As a solemn group of relatives congregate, their collective hardship, oppression and injustice are experienced vicariously through their spiritual young nephew, a boy figuring out his place in the world. Within family trees, viewpoints, traumas and complexes are passed down. To find our faith again, the video for 'Lost My Faith’ asks, should we turn to or from our family? Olan Collardy’s 35mm cinematography brings texture to a story and frames an ambiguous timeline, with Olu Ebiti’s styling and Anna Baldini’s production design blending past and present. Landline | www.landlinedocumentary.co.uk Landline is a short documentary about the only helpline in the UK for gay farmers. Through a series of recorded telephone conversations and reconstructive visuals, the film uses the helpline as a lens through which to view the experiences of LGBTQ people in the British farming community. In a world that prizes traditional masculinity and in which ideas of ancestry are fundamental, being gay can be isolating. Suicide rates are extremely high in both young farmers and gay men in particular, and combining these can be a recipe for tragedy. But there are also thriving gay scenes in the most rural of towns, stories of unexpected friendships and relationships, and moments so unlikely that they could only happen in real life. Candid, intimate and shocking, Landline is a snapshot of a group of people bound together by circumstance but so often isolated from each other. Most poisonous mushrooms won’t kill you—they’ll simply cause a severe headache or vomiting. Death-cap mushrooms are not like the others. As little as half an Amanita phalloides contains enough toxin to kill an adult human. Ingestion of the poison in death-cap mushrooms, known as amatoxin, is responsible for 90 percent of deaths related to mushroom poisoning worldwide. Worse still, death caps can resemble nontoxic mushrooms and are said to be quite tasty. You might not know you’ve been poisoned until days after eating the highly toxic fungi. While the mushrooms are historically endemic to Scandinavia and parts of northern Europe, the cultivation of non-native species of trees in North America has led to a “mushroom boom” in some areas of the continent. Life Up Close is a project of The Atlantic, supported by the HHMI Department of Science Education.

One day, I saw this dazzling darkness, and it devoured me. Then,...
One day, I saw this dazzling darkness, and it devoured me. Then, I no longer existed. We often tend to dream, expect, and imagine the things we wished we had. Dreaming is a catalyst for a better future. However, I see dreams in two different ways. One being that dreams give off a sense of motivation and the other that dreams create a sense of delusion within. As humans, our dreams block us from seeing the things that are right in front of us. Although dreams are meant to keep us alive, they also make us forget our existence and our purpose. In the end, our lack of awareness of our surroundings can drive us to forget who we really are. The project, Dream, is a short film that is created based on a visual poem, “Lonely Wintry Moon,” which I wrote portraying myself losing my existence to follow this invisible dream. Directed by Sofie Lee behance.net/sofielee Design : Sofie Lee behance.net/sofielee Animation Direction : Omid Seraj www.oseraj.com Voice Over : Stella Stocker www.stellastockervoice.com Music : Wesley Slover, Joe Basile www.sonosanctus.com / www.thechicken.net Sound : Joe Basile www.thechicken.net Mix : Trevor Richardson www.sonosanctus.com Behind the Scenes : https://www.behance.net/gallery/66089533/Dream Dream. Life is like a warm breeze that carries the redolent of spring, the colors that transmute the sky from dusk till dawn. Like a little chaste sprout that just pushed out the ground dauntlessly. A small water drop that just landed on a wild flower to tell its story from a long itinerary But I’m an indigent goldfish that is floundering helplessly in this tiny bowl enveloped by hollow plastic plants and just gazing at this beautiful world; a xanadu I can’t be a part of it I am a puddle on the street that reflects the blue sky and makes graceful ebb and flow of waves coalesced with the spring breeze but I’m merely a deserted puddle wandering aimlessly. Then a bleak, lonely wintry moon devoured my life. The life of warmth, beauty, love, and passion departed. Then, time stopped, everything lost its colors. It froze my heart and only the whiteness lingered in silence with me

The motto of the Nothing in Between project, “go with the flow”, could be the antithesis of the too often mentioned “keep on pushing”. It is the fascination with the wheels’ sound on the asphalt in a hypothetically infinite line, devoid of interruptions. “Nothing in Between” is the stream of consciousness of a skateboarder and his board: one trick after another, and nothing else in the middle. Right after the Hope Island adventure, Kepa and Natxo decided it was time to pull the plug and head somewhere more dependable (Aritz had to split for other career obligations). They beelined it to Indo. It took them a couple of days to zero in on a spot, but again, they commandeered a fishing boat and found themselves staring at a wave they really didn’t want to ride. Remote, heavy and shallow, Kepa and Natxo decided to paddle out against their better judgment. “We should have had helmets. I’ve heard stories of guys surfing this spot wearing motorcycle leathers because the reef just tears you up,” Kepa explained. “Neither of us felt comfortable out there, even wearing fullsuits, but we’d come so far.”

Somewhere, on an oceanic island, the forces of nature are still at work as in primeval times. A young, naive female tiger lives there in harmony with herself and nature. When her awakening femininity is noticed by an older male tiger, the young tigress is getting more and more scared by his heated approach. But it is impossible to escape on the secluded island. The feelings of the young animal are reflected by the volcano island, and with the help of nature, she can finally act upon her own will. — Official Selection — 67th Berlinale, Generation (2017) Official Selection — Uppsala International Short Film Festival (2017) Official Selection — Chicago International Children’s Film Festival (2017) Official Selection Student Competition — 23th Sarajevo Film Festival (2017) Official Selection — FEST, New Directors New Films, Espinho (2017) Official Selection — Zubroffka Short Film Festival, (2017) Official Selection — Insomnia International Film Festival, (2017) Official Selection Graduation Competition — BIAF, Korea (2017) Official Selection Student Competition — Animafest, Zagreb (2017) Official Selection Student Competition — Turku Animation Festival (2017) Official Selection — Premiers Plans Anger Film Festival, France (2018) Official Selection — Athens International film + Video Festival, USA (2018) Official Selection — La Guarimba Film Festival, Italy (2018) — Written, Designed & Directed: Anna Katalin Lovrity www.annakatalin.com Sound: Bálint Szabó Music: Péter Lukács Benjamin Editig: Judit Czakó Compositing: Sándor Fegyverneky Tutor: Tibor Bánóczki & Júlia Farkas Producer: József Fülöp Line producer: Nadja Andrasev Produced at MOME Anim ANIMATION Luca Tóth Zoltán Koska Dániel Bárány Judit Erdélyi Bálint Halasi Bori Mészáros Krisztián Király Lili Korcsok Zsuzsanna Kreif Milán Kopasz Petra Marjai Anna Tőkés Maja Szakadát Ágota Végső COLORING Borbála Zétényi Anna Tőkés Enikő Szász Vivien Hárshegyi Máté Muszka — facebook.com/volcanoislandfilm

A short tale on the face of masculinity, portrayed by young men who grow up in inner city environments. Where the iconic ‘screwface’ is more than just an expression, it’s a matter of life and death. The 3-minute think-piece aims to dispel the look’s reputation as a form of intimidation, and instead to help shed light on its purpose as a form of self-defence. Based on real life experiences, Abdou Cisse, who grew up in South London - gives you an insight into what it’s like growing up in a place where a young man’s masculinity is challenged and defended by a mere expression. Posing a simple question: What is a smile worth? Written and Directed by Abdou Cisse Co-written and Voiced by Kieran Kenlock.
